Wooden Stand / Green Stand
The idea of using wood-based materials in exhibition stand construction is not inherently innovative, as a quick Google search on this keyword shows. A multitude of individual solutions demonstrates the versatility of the material and the creativity of designers and stand builders. However, aluminum components still dominate the load-bearing structures of stands, such as posts and beams for walls and ceilings. There remains a lack of standardized systems based on wood. The centralized market is dominated by industrially manufactured and professionally marketed aluminum systems.
A few dominant market leaders have emerged, constantly improving their systems and optimizing the cost-effectiveness of aluminum systems through mass production. In contrast, individual wood-based solutions remain limited-production series with small quantities and often non-streamlined manufacturing processes, making it naturally difficult to compete with aluminum systems on cost. Moreover, highly developed aluminum systems can form rigid frame corners, allowing the creation of slender support and beam systems capable of easily handling horizontal loads.
The environmental assessment of wood and wood products is supported by only very limited data. Compared to the allocation methods used by wood suppliers (such as how the energy gain from burning wood is assessed), aluminum system providers have continuously supported the eco-assessment methodology for aluminum production and processing with carefully documented data. This process, however, is very energy-intensive and emits large amounts of CO2.
It is clear, therefore, that even though there are existing solutions made of wood, competition against aluminum has been asymmetrical so far due to the lack of modular wood systems.
Wooden Exhibition Stand
Instead of disposable solutions, the EECS.green Wood Design Expo Systems feature a unique, patented plug-in system. EECS’s wood systems are based on oak posts and crossbars with a 95×95 mm cross-section and a length and height of up to 6 meters. Our plug-in system allows for the construction of modular wood systems that are reusable and therefore 100% sustainable, reusable, and modular.
Our unique Green Stands are already enjoying great popularity across Europe. Many companies have recognized the seriousness of the situation and are gratefully taking the opportunity to apply sustainable solutions in trade fairs and events.
Of course, aside from sustainability, aesthetics should not be overlooked. Due to the processed oak, a wooden exhibition stand has a fundamentally different appeal compared to “cold” aluminum. Since wood—especially oak—is also often used in private residential construction, this association evokes a homely, comfortable feeling even at trade fairs.
In exhibition construction, a wooden exhibition stand benefits from these qualities, inviting visitors not only to explore the stand but also to linger.
